About Me

As the driving force behind Big Grin Music, I have been a Professional Musician since 1972, with extensive experience in performing as a sideman, solo performer, and bandleader with numerous bands and several cruise ships companies. I am professionally proficient in Trombone, Tuba, Baritone Horn, Acoustic Bass and Electric Bass.

I hold a degree in Music Education from Loyola University and Qualified Teacher Status from the General Teaching Council of Great Britain. I have 30+ years of experience in classroom instrumental music and general community music education.

In November 2004, while teaching at The College High School, Birmingham, England, I sponsored four students in the MTV Boom Music Video Competition, for which they won the award in “Best Entertainment” category.

In November 2005, whilst at Plantsbrook School, I again sponsored several students in the national MTV Boom Music Video Competition.  Students’ submitted two videos, both were short listed, one of which won the award in “Best Storytelling” category. At that time he was the only teacher to sponsor students that won categories two years back to back.

During my time teaching in England, I received a grant to form a community music group I called the Notebenders, under the direction of world-renowned saxophonist Andy Hamilton (Member of the Order of the British Empire).  This group was comprised of community members that range in age from 10 to over 50 years of age who want to learn to read music and perform in an ensemble setting in front of live audiences. The group is still in existence as of today.

I have written and arranged musical performance shows for several artists on land and on cruise ships. I have served as rehearsal conductor for several community and professional big bands. I have dedicated my life to the teaching and performing of music. And I try to spread my enthusiasm for this art all over the world
